The Owl Project
(To be read as Howard Dean scream)
We’ve been to Ohio! And Illinois! And Arizona! And Georgia! And Tennessee! And Texas! And Pennsylvania! And New York! And Indiana and Kentucky because Paducah and Evansville are really close together! YEAHHHHH!!!!!!
Our listening of people where they live has become a project that we will continue through this year and hope to ramp up after that. A project needs a name, and so ours is the Owl Project.
There is a homespun verse that was a favorite of Calvin Coolidge. It goes:
A wise old owl
Sat on an oak.
The more he saw,
The less he spoke.
The less he spoke,
The more he heard.
Why can’t we be
Like that wise old bird?"
As I’ve written, listening is hard! Coolidge listened but missed the drumbeat of imminent depression. Of course, he chose not to run for reelection in 1928.
Wise old bird.
We also believe if we are going to accomplish the things, the big things we need in this country, we need to listen. Encourage your friends to join us!
YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
